Led by the region's National Executive Committee (NEC) member Josephat Serem, the KNUT official insisted that Sossion was still their Secretary General.

“As teachers from the Rift valley region we fully support our secretary general and we urge the so-called acting SG Hesborn Otieno to go slow since he cannot handle the teacher's issues,” Serem told journalists in Eldoret town, Tuesday during KNUT Rift Valley officials meeting.

He reiterated that Sossion was duly elected by the Annual Delegate Conference (ADC) and it is only the same organ that can show him the door.

“Teachers from the region have unanimously decided that if the executive secretary general will be removed through the back door they will withdraw their membership since they don’t have faith in Otieno’s leadership,” added Serem.

His sentiments were echoed by the Wareng KNUT secretary general John Boor who said that those who want to remove Sossion are power hungry.

He said the ADC agreed that holds the position of nominated Member of Parliament as well as remain the KNUT boss so that he represents workers issues in Parliament.

"Anyone who wants that position should wait until 2021," noted Boor.
