This follows an incident where she allegedly assaulted a female inspectorate traffic officer.

The woman representative was arraigned in court on Monday but denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Julius Nang’ea, and was released on a Sh100,000 bond with surety of a similar amount or on an alternative cash bail of Sh50,000 pending hearing of the case on June 28.

Led by Commission For Human Rights and Justice (CFHRJ) Executive Director Julius Ogogo, the rights group demanded that the ODM MP should step aside until the case is heard and determined.

Ogogo indicated the lawmaker has lost integrity and that the public has no confidence in her after allegedly beating up the inspectorate and seriously injuring her on May 11.

The officer had instructed the Woman Rep's convoy at Makupa round about, to follow the traffic flow.

"The public has no confidence in her, we therefore call upon her to immediately step aside until her case is finalized," Ogogoh said on Monday after hearing of the case.

According to the activists, the first-time lawmaker has acted in complete violation of a requirement of a public officer as provided for in the constitution.
