A ward administrator from Kitutu Masaba constituency has defended himself following the accusations from area residents that he is not driving the county government agenda as required.
Mr Zablon Mokaya of Rigoma ward has been fighting the claims following massive protests by a section of area residents who accused him of sitting on his back without engaging them of county government agendas.
But on Monday, Mokaya said he was answerable to his bosses at Nyamira County and urged residents to channel their issues through their representatives.
“Sometimes it amuses me that someone goes to the public to incite them about my role. I am a representative of the county government and I always report the issues to senior officials as required by the law. Residents ought to channel their grievances through their representatives,” he said.
He urged residents to give the county government humble time to deliver on some of its projects besides pointing out at the infrastructure and health as the major beneficiaries of the county government.
“Of course you cannot expect things to be done as fast as possible. There are limited funds but the county government has tried to address pressing issues on infrastructure and health. Let us give the county government time to deliver instead of pointing accusing fingers on government officials,” he said.
However, a section of Rigoma residents who spoke to HiviSasa.com accused the administrator of meddling in the ward’s local politics.
“We have no major issue with him but he has been meddling with our local politics and we will never tire till he respects locals since he is not a resident of this place,” said Jackson Ontiri on behalf of the residents.
