A youth group together with a women group from Risa village in Kitutu Masaba constituency have a reason to smile, after Gesima MCA Ken Atuti donated Sh200,000 to the two groups in a bid to boost poultry farming in the region.
The outspoken MCA issued the cash to the two groups on Tuesday, in response to persistent criticism by area residents, who had been accusing him of incompetence.
But after the contribution, speaker after speaker hailed the MCA and pledged to work tirelessly to support development initiatives by the representative.
“As Risa youth and women group, we are really happy of the MCA for giving the donation. This is a massive boost for us and we want to promise him relentless support to him especially of development related activities,” said Victor Oenga.
They urged women and youths from Nyamira County to form groups to make it possible for politicians and other well-wishers to help them.
“Time has come for the youth and women in our county to come together and form youth groups. It is quite easy for the politicians and other well-wishers to support them. The MCA has shown a good example that he is ready to support us,” added Cecily Ongige.
The contribution might be a game changer in the ever-dynamic Gesima politics, given the incumbent’s main challenger Charles Maroko hails from the region.
