Speaking at Capitol Hill in Nairobi, Kalonzo said it is unfortunate for the senate to pass the disputed amendments allowing manual identification of voters as the next general polls draw closer.

"You should not drink from this poisonous chalice that has come from Senate and National Assembly. Rise above this challenge and save the nation," he said as quoted by the Star.

Kalonzo affirmed that the opposition will not sit back and watch a few individuals crucify the nation.

"We are inviting all our members and aspirants to the meeting so we can take one stance and know how we will move forward," he added.

On his part, Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula faulted Speaker Ethuro for colluding with the members of Jubilee to pass the laws.

"The Speaker conspired with Jubilee and rigged the vote. He has imported the bad manners of cheating to the Senate," said Wetangula.

Their sentiments come at a time when Cord leader and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho are out of the country.
