A section of parents have said that pornographic DVDs are on the rise in the area, where the material is being sold to teenagers.

“They normally hide them beneath the stacks of the normal videos they sell. However when they get the demand for them they offer the film under a different cover,” said Moses Muchemi, a parent.

Muchemi said that attempts to confront them has always been unfruitful as they accuse one of interfearing with their businesses.

Margaret Njeri claimed that most of those sell the materials collaborate with the local authorities.

“I do not understand why one can be arrested for having illegal music yet the same people who do a crackdown cannot be able to determine the person distributing pornographic materials,” wonders Njeri.

Josephine Achieng urged the government to shut down the cyber cafes downloading pornographic materials.

“There are so many sprouting cyber cafes in Langalanga, Shabab and Kenlands which disguise as games zone yet they are the one  downloading pornographic materials. The government need to investigate cyber cafes doing that,” suggests Achieng.

Achieng says that the government should investigate people before giving them permission to start cyber cafes.

“The license to start cyber cafes should only be given to mature people who will not expose children to pornographic materials,” says Achieng.
