Masinga residents were on Friday warned against using unsafe pit latrines especially during the rainy season.
The warning was issued by Masinga OCS Moraya Mwangi after reports emerged that latrines in the area were collapsing due to heavy rains.
The warning came after three latrines at St John Yiiyani Primary School collapsed following a heavy downpour in the area.
Two other primary school- Kaseveni and Kathukini primary school suffered the same incidents after the heavy rain that fell on Monday.
"It is fortunate that the latrines collapsed just after the schools closed for the December holidays, but the children might still be at great risk if their home latrines are still weak," said Mwangi.
He spoke to this writer at an exclusive interview.
Mr Mwangi warned residents to ensure their latrines are safe enough for themselves and their children to avoid similar tragedies.
