The residents on Tuesday claimed that a criminal gang which is on the loose in the area had formed a habit of raiding them especially during blackouts.

Speaking on the backdrop of an attack yesterday night when an unknown number of thugs were repulsed by the locals, community elder Peterson Githaiga asked County Commissioner Joshua Nkatha to deploy more officers in the area as those in Kaptembwa police post were not only inadequate but also slow in responding to their distress calls.

"We are tired of being raided by criminal gangs here. It is only two weeks when they stole a motorcycle and household items and now they have struck again. We want our security guaranteed," he lamented.

Another resident William Omweri added that there was need for the police to intensify their patrols in the informal settlement especially at night.

"These criminals take advantage of the poorly lit areas around here to escape and if only the police can patrol then the situation can be brought under control," he said.

Two weeks ago, a gang of criminals raided a residential plot in the area and made away with a motorcycle, gas cylinder and an unknown amount of money.
