Already, a group mainly constituting of youthful population has backed Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati and subsequently started the process of anointing him.

"He has shown how series it is to defend our community and there is not doubt that he's the chosen one," one of the organisers Beavon Magare said.

Suspiciously, top Gusii politicians have remained mum on the issue with sources saying many are against the idea of crowing Arati.

But a section of Gusii residents led by veteran politician Nyarangi Moturi have identified Maraga as genuine representative.

"Maraga has shown for years that he can lead our people. He is the only qualified person to speak on our behalf," he said.

However, the nature of Maraga's work may not necessarily allow him to accept to be crowned as spokesperson for the community.
