Rapid expansion and improvement of roads has been witnessed in all corners of the county in Governor Alfred Mutua's reign than ever before.

Besides the popular 33-kilometer Mwala-Kithimani road that was tarmacked in a record three months, more roads linking key towns are currently under construction.

For instance, Tala-Donyosabuk road whose construction was commissioned last month by President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to connect Machakos, Kangundo and Tala towns to Thika, Kenya's second largest industrial town.

It is also expected to bring down the cost of movement of goods and people, therefore boosting the regions' trade ties.

Also under construction is Kangundo - Kathiani road, whose tarmacking commenced last week. The road, which has been in bad state for many years will effectively link Tala, Kangundo, Kathiani to the county headquarters in Machakos.

Koma-Kenol road, which is being done by the World Bank will connect Mitaboni to Tala, Nairobi and Thika.

Then there is Katoloni - Konza, also under construction, linking Machakos town and the proposed new Machakos City to the Konza techno city, and the country's port city of Mombasa.

Business analysts believe the completion of those projects will transform the region's economic potential and generate thousands of jobs for locals.
