According to the workers, the contractor hired them two years ago but instead of paying them he just vanished without giving details on the payments.

They are now appealing to Governor James Ogwae to intervene and ensure they are paid because the project was a county government initiative.

“Some of my colleagues have died without receiving their dues. The former county roads executive Skitter Ocharo told us that the county had already released the money but it has never reached us.Samuel Oguki the group's leader is quoted by the Nation.

The workers are said to have been hired between May, November and December 2014 to provide manual labour during the road’s construction.

They claimed that they have no means of sustaining their lives and it was time Ogwae intervened.

According to Oguki, they have tried seeking justice for a long time but all has been in vain.

“We have in the course of the past two years pursued the contractor, suffered so much trouble and spent so many hours and resources seeking justice in vain,” Oguki added.
