The project which is part of Machakos county government’s ambitious plan to face lift towns within the county and make them attractive investment destinations in the region was launched by His Excellency President of the Republic of Kenya earlier this month in Tala town.

Residents within the regions in which the road is been constructed have lauded the initiative saying there has been good progress in the ongoing establishment and upgrade of infrastructure in the towns as demonstrated by the completion of these roads.

‘’We are looking at making our urban centers very friendly and competitive in terms of infrastructure so that we accord our people opportunities to create jobs and wealth,” said one of the residents.

The town has in the recent past been buoyed by the completion of other key facelift projects including the new modern matatu terminus and business stalls and the putting up of a perimeter wall around the town’s Garden Square.

Drainage system in the town, which had been gaping dangerously for a long time was sealed last year and now provides safe walkways for pedestrians.

Additionally, public toilets for residents and visitors of the town have been established.
