Residents and students who live within the Kisii university, Riverside and Nyamage village have something to smile about after the county government on Monday started rehabilitating roads in the area.
The road rehabilitation started shortly after the intervention of the Kisii university student leader Peter Kuria.
Mr Kuria held a meeting with officials of the county government.
"I am very happy to see that rehabilitation has kicked off on tbe road," James Onkoba a student said.
Mr Tom Okemwa a local congratulated the student leader for taking the step.
He said that at least now roads around the school will be accessible.
"For months now it has been so hard for us to operate because of the deplorable condition of most roadsroads," he said.
In the meeting with county officials, Mr Patrick Lumumba promised that roads will be rehabilitated.
Contacted he said that the rehabilitation will go on for two weeks.
"As a county Government We shall ensure that all roads around the University are accessible," said Mr Lumumba.
He also said that they will be mantained regularly.
Students had earlier threatened to hold peaceful demonstrations if the county government could not rehabilitate the roads.
