Road users in Gucha South have been urged to observe road safety as a way of curbing road carnage.
This is after cases of increased road accidents were reported in the area, which was mainly caused by boda-boda operators.
The operators have been warned against carrying excessive passengers as it was the norm for many in the area.
They have also been told to ensure they have the right attire and helmets for their passengers.
According to Kuja Base Commander Stephen Kemboi, they intend to have a meeting with all road users and especially boda-boda and matatu operators to discuss the matter.
“I would like to urge all road users on this route, Migori-Kisii-Riosiri to ensure they observe the road rules. Ensure you have helmets for your passengers as well to protect them,” he said.
He added: “We are requesting for your help as well because we cannot win this alone,”
This call comes at a time that the transport sector has been in the spotlight over increased cases of road carnage, which claimed lives of hundreds of Kenyans towards the end of last year.
