Bondo is NASA leader Raila Odinga's rural home, and he enjoys massive political support from the area, and the larger Nyanza region.
Demonstrators barricaded all major roads entering Bondo Central Business District (CBD), paralyzing transport operations,as early as 7am.This follows Friday's demonstrations, where at least three people were shot dead, leaving several others seriously injured.Confirming the incident, Bondo OCPD James Kiarie said police officers were forced to open fire after more than 200 armed protesters stormed the Bondo police station, with possible intentions of harming the officers. However, NASA dismissed the narrative, saying protesters on ground said police deliberately opened fire to the peaceful protesters. In Migori County, three people were seriously injured, during the demos, including a 72-year-old granny, who witnesses said was coming from the hospital, before police shot her. Most of the injured are still nursing wounds in different hospitals.Below are photos of the blocked roads in Bondo, as NASA demonstrations kick off, daily.
