Thika Town businessmen are calling for timely completion of roads currently under construction within the town saying that they are affecting their businesses negatively.
The Thika District Business Association (TDBA) Chairman Waweru Nderitu says that many businesses along the roads under construction have seen a decline in customer numbers as well as sales in the past one month.
Waweru, who is the proprietor of Thika's Coconut Grill Hotel notes that the main hurdle has been accessing their businesses as some roads' sections have been closed, diverted or trenches dug near the business premises making them inaccessible.
"Like where we are along Thika-Gatitu Road businesses like Tuskys Supermarket, Coconut Grill, Thika Motor Dealers, Pizza Inn and others are greatly affected," said Waweru at his office on Tuesday.
He added: "For example those who want to come here to buy goods or services from Thika Town Centre can only walk here or use the Metrofil diversion as one side of the road is closed."
He, however, appreciated the county government's roads expansion efforts saying that if completed within the set time frame, it will be a boost to their businesses.
