With president Uhuru Kenyatta’s swearing in set to take place on Tuesday, Kenyans will have to do with the closure of certain roads to aid movement.
According to Nairobi Police Commander Japheth Koome, a number of raods will be closed spefically for the day.
This, according to the officer, is due to security reasons, owing to the number of dignitaries expected in the country.
Mombasa Road, Uhuru Highway and Thika Road are among the roads that will be heavily affected, and will be marked as ‘red zones’.
“Because of security protocol the aforementioned roads will be marked as red zones. A red zone means an area with heavy deployment of police officers,” said Koome.
He further pointed out that they expect to have more security officers in most roads, with major events expected to take place in the next one to two weeks.
“Security will also be beefed up for the following events including the Standard Chartered marathon which will be held tomorrow and the UN environmental summit which will be held between 4-6 December,” Koome said.
