The national government has started to fulfill its promises of upgrading different roads in the country with Kiambu County being an immediate beneficiary of this project.

This comes at a time when the government announced that its project are on course and their intention is to offer world class transport solution in Kenya by construction of 10,000 kilometres of road.

Speaking in Kiambu when flagging off four road projects estimated at sh 4.2billion road projects Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia said that these projects will be countrywide and are set to be complete by 2017.

“These projects will be in every county in Kenya. These projects will boost agriculture, tourism, trade and other economic activities and propel Kenya into African powerhouse,” he said.

The project in Kiambu included the tarmacking of Kibichoi-Ichaweri-Nembu-Gachika, Muigai Inn-Ichaweri-Gatundu-Kang’oo, Broadway-Kiandutu-Athena-Kiaganjo-Muthaiga and Courtesy Beach Loops.

The 80km project will be undertaken by H Young Contractors and will be supervised by Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA).

Speaking in the same function Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria asked the contractors to work together with other agencies to facilitate timely execution of the project.

“Engage with Kenya Power, those laying down fibre optics and other agencies so that there will be no delays,” he asked.
