Mandera Governor Ali Roba has criticized National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale for claiming that Jubilee will rally behind candidates endorsed by the community elders.
Recently, Duale said that Jubilee will not go against the decision to endorse Hasan Noor for Mandera governor.
Speaking on Thursday during the Mashujaa Day celebrations in Mandera, Roba said that Duale’s sentiments have gone against Jubilee’s promise to ensure free and fair nominations before the next general elections.
“His Excellency the president, who is the Jubilee Party Leader, promised that the party will conduct a free and fair election but the remarks of Aden Duale are quite controversial. They are the actual opposite,” said Roba.
He added: “Duale has committed a grievous mistake – he has disrespected both the President and the Jubilee Party.”
The outspoken governor affirmed that he is dedicated to end food shortages that the county has suffered for years.
“In the next 10 years Mandera County will have sufficient food,” he said.
He also remarked that Jubilee has failed the residents of this county citing President Uhuru Kenyatta’s promise to resolve power outages in the region.
“Terrorists are taking advantage of the power outages to attack people since it is dark and people cannot see them as they approach,” he said.
He also accused the government for failing to construct the Somali-Kenya border wall in order to curb terror attacks.
“Eighteen months since the project began, the government has not covered more than 8 km of the total 360 km Kenya-Somalia border wall and we wonder if it will ever end,” he said.
