A businessman was on Thursday shot by three gunmen who robbed him Sh 200,000.
This happened in Nyamataro area, Kitutu Chache South in Kisii County.
The man only identified as Jimmy was closing business when the gang ambushed him.
"This prompted me to raise alarm but by the time people could arrive and help me contain the situation, things had gone put of hand," he said.
Ms Lilian Kemunto, a local said that people tried to catch up with the thugs but they never responded.
Kisii Central police boss Francis Nguli confirmed the incident and said no arrest has been made following the incident.
"We suspect that the criminals were tipped by someone who was near the shop before they attacked," he said.
He said that the victim was faring on well as he asked members of the public to work close with the police so as they arrest the criminals.
Mr Nguli warned local youths against joining criminal groups.
