Two guards were on Thursday night shot dead in Nyabigege market, South Mugirango in Kisii County.
Thhe two identified as Rosana Asugo and Mokora Okioi weree found dead outside shops they have been guarding for years now.
John Nyaundi a resident said that he heard a commotion on that night and when he alerted neighbors and went out they found the lifelesa bodies of the men lying on the ground.
"By the time we reached their we heard gunshots which scared us a bit," he said.
Mr Vincent Onduso who owns a shop said that the thugs had severally tried to break into the shops.
"It is not the first time thugs come here and something should be done so as we control this," he said.
Gucha South police boss Moses Kanyi he got information after the killers had escaped with a vehicle.
"The vehicle was however, later set a bllaze by locals. I assure them that police will be more vigilant," he said.
Mr Kanyi said that the thugs managed to make away with mechanical parts of several lorries that were parked in the area.
