A robbery suspect is nursing gunshot wounds at Gatundu District Hospital after he was shot on the back early today morning in a botched robbery attempt.
According to Gatundu South OCPD Bernard Muli, the robbers were attempting to steal from a supermarket in Kiganjo area of Gatundu South when the police got wind of it.
His accomplices managed to escape and police have launched a man-hunt to arrest them.
"The suspects were attempting to break into the supermarket but we were tipped by the members of the public and responded immediately," Muli said.
"The shot suspect will help us identify the rest when he recovers," he added.
Jeremiah Kamau, a night guard at a nearby establishment says that he heard a commotion before the shoot-out began.
"The thieves were asked to surrender but opted to engage the police," he said.
Muli has now asked the members of the public from the area to assist the police with investigations.
