Ng'ang'a has proceeded on terminal leave, aged 61-years, as he plans to handover his roles to Robert Pavel Oimeke, the Commission's director for renewable energy, in an Acting capacity.

"The engineer has served at ERC for more than seven years and has been in the energy industry for more than three decades,'' reports Business Daily.

He broke the news of his exit from the energy regulator, to staff members through an email, Thursday evening.

Ng'ang'a started out as a drilling engineer with the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPL) at Olkaria in the early 1980s.

He served as the deputy managing director at KenGen, before leaving to join ERC as the director of electricity, in February 2010.
