Bodaboda operators at Nyambari Trading Centre in Lari Sub County have been urged to adhere to road regulations or quit the trade.
The bodaboda operators have been accused of ignoring road regulations a situation that has been blamed for increased road accidents.
According to Lari Police Inspector Bernard Indeke, cases of accidents involving bodaboda operators are on the rise in the area.
Indeke on Wednesday observed that most bodaboda riders ignore road regulations.
He stated that most operators also are not familiar with road regulations.
“We are concerned over rising cases of accident involving bodaboda’s and want to urge them to adhere to road regulations,” said the Police Inspector on phone.
To ensure operators adhere to regulations, Indeke said that they have partnered with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to educate bodaboda operators on road regulations.
He said that together with NTSA they have organised training targeting all operators.
The Inspector at the same time urged youths venturing into the bodaboda sector to ensure that they have the required training.
The National Transport and Safety Authority last week said that it has developed a curriculum for bodaboda operators that will ensure they get the much-needed skills.
