Uasin Gishu Trade and Tourism Chief Executive Philip Melly has put on notice bodaboda and taxi operators who have not complied with rules governing their operations.

Speaking on Thursday after a meeting with bodaboda and taxi operators' officials, Mr Melly said most of them were ignoring the regulations.

"I am really disappointed with some taxi and bodaboda operators in the Central Business District breaking the law and endangering the lives of their customers by causing accidents that could have been prevented," he said.

Mr Melly said those breaking the law will be arrested, prosecuted and their licences withdrawn.

"I put on notice bodaboda operators who carry more than two passengers that they will be arrested, charged and banned from operating in the county," he said.

Some of the laws to governing bodaboda and taxi operators he said include wearing helmets and carrying only one passenger, joining Saccos and having a valid licence.
