Technical and Vocational Education Training Authority (TVETA) Director General Dr. Kipkurui Langat has warned middle-level colleges operating illegally.
He said colleges that have not been registered and accredited by TVETA will be closed down.
"As an authority we want our students to get quality and not quantity education from registered institutions. Our mandate is to inspect, license, register and accredit training institutions," he said at Rift valley Technical Training Institute during their 7th graduation ceremony, Friday.
"We want colleges to provide market-driven and competent skilled workforce with recognised training and certification. We don't want a situation where students come out with certificates which are not recognized by employers," he added.
He reiterated that the authority will continue carrying out a crackdown on rogue colleges until sanity prevails in the middle-level colleges.
"By closing rogue colleges Kenyans will be able to access quality education in registered and chartered institutions, thus ensuring the country properly educated citizens," notes Langat.
