An exercise launched by Nyamira governor John Nyagarama targeting alleged ghost workers suffered a major blow following vandalism in county offices.

An order emanating from the county governor ordered for scrutiny in the Finance and Human Resource departments to expose fraudsters.

During his inauguration a fortnight ago, Nyagarama vowed to ensure he brings sanity to dispel claims that he had ordered recruitment of unqualified stuff.

And information circulating on various social media platforms indicates that finance and HR offices were raided even with the presence of security officers.

“Unknown people broke into the county Treasury offices, vandalized equipment and stole five computers,” wrote Nyambega Gisesa.

“The five computers are believed to be storing vital details and this comes barely a day after Governor Nyagarama ordered scrutiny in the workforce,” he added.

Recently, Nyagarama advertised various positions among them the powerful County Secretary post previously held by Erick Onchana.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that it was an inside job where culprits utilized the opportunity to destroy evidence.
