Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has said that the county government was dedicated to ensuring that all medical staffs are qualified to serve.
Maangi said any medical staffs found unfit will be sacked, arrested and prosecuted.
“The county government of Kisii is committed to improving the state of health across all the health facilities in the county and this can only be achieved by ensuring we have qualified staff on board to give quality medical care to locals seeking medical help and assistance. Unqualified staff will be axed, arrested and taken to court for imposing to be health personnel,” he said.
According to Maangi, no medical staff will be hired using the backdoor.
He warned county executives and other workers against interfering with the hiring of medical workers.
“Corruption is illegal and punishable by law. Any county official who will be found forging documents to help his or her relative to get a job in the county will be dealt with accordingly. All medical staffs should meet the required standards before they will be absorbed to work at the health centres in the county,” he added.
This comes just days after an unqualified nurse was found working in Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.
