The police have gotten a hold of 3 AK 47 rifles and 178 bullets during an operation they carried out on Thursday morning.

Sources say the Recce officer had been radicalised, hence, the plan on the attack. He, however, managed to escape the scene leaving behind his ammunition.

The suspect has been identified as Eric Ngethe Kanyingi who left the squad way back in 2014. He is now believed to be an Al-Shabaab sympathiser.

A raid was carried out in Kanyingi’s house on Wednesday by the police but no weapons were found.

"We only found literature material that suggests that the man is radicalised," said a senior security official in Kiambu.

Top security chiefs at Ruiru police were unavailable to comment on the matter.
