Speaking to farmers during the commissioning of the event at Rongai Market Centre the Nakuru County Kenya Veterinary Association Chairman Benson Amada said the association had rolled out a country wide vaccination programme to boost the dairy industry.

While encouraging farmers to register their dairy animals for the vaccination exercise that will run for two weeks in the region, Chairman Amada noted that KVA was closely working with the government to develop livestock industry in the country.

“This vaccination programme is not only in this area, but also meant to be conducted countrywide since it is a national project,’’ noted Amada.

Rongai Veterinary Officer Lucy Rotich said that the area has over one hundred registered dairy farmers with more than two thousand dairy animals which will take part in the vaccination exercise.

She announced that the exercise that will kick off on Wednesday would rely on mobile technology to access farms and advised registered farmers to avail their mobile phone numbers and physical addresses.

“We will rely on the mobile phone technology to coordinate the exercise. We need your phone numbers and physical location within the sub-county so that we can keep in touch,’’ said Rotich.
