Police have been called upon to speed up investigations into the legality of 22 plot title deeds issued to residents of a farm in Rongai, Nakuru County.
The residents who have since reported a dispute over the status of the land to the area Chief and Police want an agent who sold them the plots probed after the owners started demanding money from them.
The land in question Shawa/Rongai block 7/546 was six years ago divided into several plots measuring 40 x 80 feet whereby the complainants purchased 22 plots ranging from Sh (80,000 to 120,000) and pad cash to the said agent upon signing of an agreement between them.
They said that despite developing the plots, for six years no dispute has been reported until this week when the owners came demanding more cash.
This prompted them to report the matter to Police but so far no caution has been taken.
“We all have title deeds for these plots, but now we wonder how the farm owners would come demanding more cash yet we paid the purchase price in full to his agent.
This is why we want the county lands, physical planning and housing executive committee members to intervene,” said the residents.
