A section of women groups in Nakuru County are supporting the National Campaign against Drug Abuse (Nacada) John Mututho’s ambitions to succeed Governor Kinuthia Mbugua as Nakuru governor.
Speaking on Monday during a Table Banking Workshop at Kambi Ya Moto Business Centre, Rongai Women Groups Association (ROWOGA) Chairperson Beatrice Wanyoike said that majority of women and like-minded people and groups in the county support Mututho’s quest to vie for the governor’s seat because of his revolutionary ideas and leadership style.
Wanyoike observed that the Alcohol and Drinks Control Law that Mututho helped draft had brought about many changes in the socio-economic circles of Kenyans and pledged women’s support for the Nacada chief.
“If the President did not recognise Mututho’s tireless efforts of changing the Kenyan society for socio-economic change, he could not have appointed him Nacada chairman. Many lives have been saved and many of our youths and men who were hooked to alcohol are now healthy and working.”
She added, “This man deserves to be given a chance to continue imparting his revolutionary ideas and leadership style. Women in Nakuru County will massively support the NACADA boss should he vie for the governor’s seat in the next general elections.’’
