Rongo parliamentary aspirant and former University of Nairobi student leader David Osiany has rubbished the re-opening of the New KCC factory in Eldoret.
Osiany questioned where Jubilee government was in the last four years that it had to wait till now to re-open the factory that closed its doors in 1999 at Sh400 million.
"This is just a campaign gimmick. Where was Uhuru before the campaigns started and what was he waiting? Is it because he is a milk mogul?" Osiany said on a local TV station on Monday.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has however defended the move saying that it will improve the lives of residents while urgin area farmers in to increase the number and quality of their livestock.
"This KCC company is qualified to compete against companies across the world and that is why I encourage you to bring your milk here. I know our competitors will term this as a political move but I ask them, where were they to revive this plant yet it has been lying here idle since 1999?''
"We will continue to revive more factories that collapsed due to mismanagement because our main agenda is to improve the lives of Kenyans. I more so encourage the youth to be involved in agriculture which is good business," said Uhuru.
