Kisumu County MCAs have challenged the county government to root out corrupt leaders in its government.
Nominated MCA Caroline Ogot, speaking on Sunday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kibuye asked the county government to emulate the national government by rooting out corrupt leaders as this would help see devolution growing fully in the region.
Ogot challenged the county leaders to shun corruption, stating that corrupt deals were an enemy to the needed growth.
“We need to shun corruption amidst us as it never encourages development, by making corrupt leaders to face justice in stepping down for inquiries,” she said.
“The county government should be thorough by emulating the national government for not condoning corrupt leaders as corruption never fosters development,” she added.
Her counterpart, Migosi MCA Paul Achayo echoed similar sentiments, saying there should be more and strict measures to fight the vice.
He further noted that corrupt leaders needed to step aside for inquiries, challenging the county government to emulate the national government to foster its devolution development.
“Let us not encourage corruption at all costs, corruption does not foster development, corrupt leaders should therefore face penalties by stepping aside for proper inquiries,” he said.
