Migori county police commander Joseph Nthenge has called on the government to root out rogue officers from the police service.
Nthenge who was speaking during a peace forum organized by Uwiano that brought together youth and security officers in Kisumu on Friday said that there are police officers with questionable characters who are tainting the image of the police officers.
The police boss was reacting to the recent killing of a medical practitioner during a peaceful demonstration which sparked mixed reactions from residents of Migori town a month ago.
“Killers of the clinical officer shall be brought to book and they will cover up for murderers that have been taking place in this region,” said Nthenge.
The police boss at the same said that as the security officers, they did their best despite the shootings that were witnessed.
He cautioned bodaboda operators in the greater Nyanza region against taking the law into their own hands and urged them to seek for possible conflict resolution methods.
Three vehicles including a tractor have been reduced to ashes in the past two weeks by bodaboda operators following accidents which involved one of their own.
Earlier this week, the same was witnessed in Homabay town where a public service vehicle belonging to the Otange company was set ablaze by irate bodaboda operators.
