Kenya Farmers Association(KFA) Director Kipkorir Arap Menjo has cried foul over local leaders being given first priority while delivering their Maize at National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) Eldoret depot.
He said this has led to some farmers staying in the queue for over one week.
“We are not happy with the ways the queues are moving, how can a farmer stay for over a week without delivering his or her maize at the expense of some local leaders being given first priority,” he said in Eldoret town, Tuesday.
“Every farmer should be given equal treatment regardless whether he is a leader or not, we want the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture Willy Bett to intervene for sanity to prevail by devising ways of ensuring that they at least 100 lorries are served per day,” he added.
He, however, urged NCPB to pay farmers promptly after delivering their maize produce.
“NCPB should stick at their promise of paying farmers promptly or else we will look for alternative places to sell our maize,” noted Menjo
