Controversial politician Miguna Miguna is said to ripped apart application forms from the Immigration department meant to regularise his Kenyan citizenship.
Miguna has maintained that he cannot sign the papers since he is a Kenyan citizen by birth.
The controversial lawyer is currently being held at an undisclosed location at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after a botched deportation on Monday night.
This came hours after acting Director of Immigration Services Joseph Munywoki sent the application forms to the airport.
According to the Immigration department, Miguna lost his Kenyan status when he acquired the Canadian one in 1998.
At the time, Kenya did not permit dual citizenship.
“To enable Miguna regularize his citizenship status, the Department of Immigration has this morning dispatched the requisite application forms to JKIA for Miguna to duly fill for processing,” the department tweeted on Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday evening, the court had been ordered to release Miguna unconditionally.
