Over 50 youths allied to the opposition coalition NASA on Sunday blocked Deputy President William Ruto’s convoy at Misikhu market along the Webuye –Morale road.
Police officers were forced to lob teargas canisters to disperse the rowdy youths.
The rowdy group lit bonfires on the road to prevent Ruto from using the route.
They claimed that the DP and the Jubilee government had not done any development in the region.
Two of the youths were arrested.
The youths engaged the police in running battles as they kept on complaining that they had been neglected.
"We do not want Ruto and his Jubilee brigade here as we are fully behind NASA due to the high cost of living that has made prices of flour and sugar to skyrocket," said a youth identified as Weke, as reported by The Star.
Weke said they will ensure Ruto does not use the route to Kimilili.
Bingham East police boss Zaccheus Ngeno said police will arrest any person who will try to bring mayhem when the DP passes through the area.
Ruto is in Bungoma and is expected to attend a rally at Nubile in Amutala stadium.
