Kisii Governor James Ongwae was on Wednesday forced to cut short his speech in various stop overs during a voter registration campaign across the county.
Ongwae, who was accompanied by several ODM leaders, was sensitizing area residents to register as voters ahead of August elections.
At Ekona in South Mugirango, Ongwae was accused by locals of neglecting the region despite being voted overwhelmingly in 2013.
Things were not different in Ebirege and Kenyenya where youths chanted pro-Chris Obure slogans, making it almost impossible for the county Chief to address his people.
“I have heard your concerns and I will have the roads in question and street lights fixed very soon,” Ongwae said amid murmurs at Ekona as reported by the Daily Nation.
However, Ongwae dismissed the hostile reception in a number of regions adding that the rowdy youths were paid by his opponents.
“Overall, most of the venues were receptive to us. The campaign period has not yet begun and our ODM party is popular here,” he said.
