The Kibra lawmaker was in the company of Lang'ata MP Joash Olum to officially open an academic block at the Raila Educational Centre when the incident happened.

Okoth was speaking when the youths demanded to know why ODM Leader Raila Odinga, who the institution is named after, was not in attendance.

They also were not okay with Okoth's claims that the project was state-funded, claiming that it was Raila who had looked for international donors to set up the whole project.

"Raila founded the school and we are building on what he founded. This block has been build with funds from the CDF, Varkey Gems Foundations, and Raila Centre and its has cost about Sh 50 million," said Okoth.

He had to escape in his car as the rowdy youths took to stones after jeering him.
