Riara University (RU) won eight awards during the 2017 East Africa Student Film Festival.

RU emerged the overall winners followed by Daystar University. Seven of the RU awards were first place and the eighth was runners up.

This year, there was participation from universities in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
