Former Youth Enterprise Development Fund board member Jim Clement Ayungo was on Wednesday released by a Chief Magistrate’s court on a Sh100,000 cash bail.
Ayungo is a Ruaraka constituency parliamentary aspirant.
The former board member was arrested on Tuesday after a 3-day search by police following the remarks he made in Ruaraka and captured on video on account of its inciteful nature.
In the video that went viral, Ayungo is seen encouraging violent acts of protest should Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga fail to clinch the Presidency in 2017.
Police sought to detain Ayungo for another 3 days to enable further investigation into the video but Principal Magistrate Benson Nzakyo denied their application on the grounds that they had not convincingly presented their case.
“No compelling reasons have been given to warrant him remanded,” he said.
The Court further directed Ayungo to report to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) offices for more investigations.
He was part of the YEDF board chaired by Bruce Odhiambo and which was disbanded after it emerged that there was a misappropriation of funds.
In March, he appeared before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly in relation to an inquiry into the death of a YEDF driver.
