World 800m record holder David Rudisha has resumed training after an injury that ruled him out of the August’s World Championships in London. The two-time Olympic champion expressed his regret of missing an opportunity to win another title in London.
“It is very unfortunate that I suffered an injury two weeks before the IAAF World Championships in London, where I was targeting to win another title,” Rudisha said as quoted by the Star.
Rudisha advised elite athletes to take part in continental shows for better preparations.
He stated that these competitions are the springs of young track stars.
“This is where I started and I wouldn’t mind featuring one more time. I am a two-time African champion in the continental show,” he noted.
He has two African Championship titles won in 2008 (Addis Ababa) and 2010 (Nairobi). He also has two world 800m titles crowned in 2011 (Daegu) and 2015 (Beijing). Rudisha is also the first man, since Peter Snell of New Zealand in 1964, to win back-to-back Olympic 800m titles.
