Kiambu county Governor Ferdinand Waititu has said Ruiru market will be upgraded.

The upgrade, according to the governor, will cost Sh271M.

Speaking on Sunday during a church service at A.I.P.C.A Kimuru in Ruiru, Biashara ward, Waititu noted that county officials will meet the market's business fraternity on Monday, February 5, 2018, to start relocation plans to pave way for the contractor.

Over 800 traders converged at the market to sell their wares to the more than 3,000 customers from all over the region every Wednesday and Saturday.

Traders and customers travel from as far as Lari, Githunguri and Juja constituencies to sell or buy goods.

The governor also noted that a contractor will be on site, Monday, at Ruiru sub-county hospital to drill a borehole so that the hospital gets a reliable water supply.
