Ruiru Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Esther Gathongo has urged the Kiambu government to fast track plans of supplying residents with clean tap water.

The MP said that a huge population in the constituency is not connected to clean tap water.

Speaking at Gikumari secondary school in Gatongora Ward, Ruiru constituency on Saturday, when she launched a borehole project at the school, Gathongo said that access to clean water remains a challenge to residents.

The MP noted that most residents in the area depend on water from vendors.

Gathongo however assured residents that she will work with the county government to ensure residents have access to water.

“We know access to water remains a challenge, but I want to assure that we will work tirelessly to ensure residents have access to water,” she said.

She stated that the drilling of the borehole will enable students at the school and neighbouring community to access water.

The Member of Parliament said that more boreholes will be sunk across the constituency in a bid to ensure locals have access to water.

The lawmaker noted that water is a basic commodity that residents should have access to all times.

Gathongo at the same said that she will implement development projects before the next general elections.

She said she is working with both the national and the county government on various projects including construction, renovation and expansionof roads across the constituency.

The lawmaker urged residents to support her as she seeks to better their lives through development projects.
