Ruiru Member of Parliament (MP) Esther Gathango wants the national government to boost security in north eastern and other parts of the country that are still at risk of terror attacks.
Speaking after attending a security meeting in Ruiru yesterday, the MP said that despite the government efforts to deal with terror threats, some parts of the country are still at risk of attacks.
The MP said that while the government is determined to fight terror, it should change its tactics and approach.
Gathongo noted that terrorists and their agents are devising new tricks in their attacks which he said the government must foil.
“I support the strategies the government is taking to curb terrorism and crime, but much has to be done if indeed we want to secure the country from the hands of the enemy,” she said.
The MP asked the government to invest more in security resources especially on personnel and equipment.
Gathongo said that security of Kenyans is the first and foremost responsibility of the government.
She further called for team work and collaboration among agencies mandated to ensure law and order.
Gathongo on the same note asked Ruiru law enforcers to streamline surveillance and deal with all elements of crime.
“We want a crime free society and that means that our men and women in uniform must work extra hard to provide the much needed security,” she said.
