Ruiru MP Esther Gathogo has called for the Constituency Development Fund to remain under the management of MPs, saying it will ensure smooth implementation of projects that fall under the national government.
Gathogo disclosed that members of parliament will not shoot down the 2016/2017 budget estimates.
The vice chairperson of the CDF parliamentary board said it was important to pass the budget to ensure the CDF kitty is released. However the legislator said concerns raised by the council of governors over the fund are not substantive.
She added that MPs will now be keen to facilitate projects that fall under the national government and change of name to NG-CDF.
The lawmaker was speaking in Kimbo Primary school, Githurai where she opened CDF toilets and ground breaking of a perimeter wall.
She also said that so far the kitty has improved education in the country through infrastructure improvement, bursaries and sponsor ships.
She defended the CS of education Fred Matiangi over his move to ban prayer day in schools.
