Ruiru MP Ng’ang’a King’ara has asked police officers to beef up security in the area to end crime saying that they had relaxed allowing criminals to terrorize residents.
King'ara vowed not to let the police to sleep while residents are being robbed by criminals left, right and centre.
"I was elected to defend my people and for this reason I am challenging police to intensify security patrols to ensure locals are safe at all times,” Kingara said in Ruiru town on Thursday.
The lawmaker also urged the government to increase the number of police stations in the constituency noting that population in Ruiru had increased in recent times.
"More police stations should be added and police officers deployed to serve at the stations to end crime in the locality,” he added.
He urged residents to cooperate with police officers in fight against crime while urging youths to venture into small businesses and avoid engaging in crime which may lead to their arrests.
“Youths should start small businesses to help them earn a living instead of engaging in crime,” King'ara noted.
