Ruiru MP Esther Gathongo wants the county government to move with haste and improve the state of roads in the constituency.
Addressing journalists at her Ruiru office on Saturday, the MP observed that most roads in the constituency are in poor state, noting that road networks need to be improved to enable businessmen and residents conduct their daily activities well.
“The county government should fast-track repair and renovation of roads in Ruiru and adjacent estates and wards,” she said.
The MP also urged the county government to erect street lights and CCTV cameras for security purposes, saying this will encourage 24-hour economy, which will in the process boost the economy.
Gathongo asked residents to be steadfast and take part in development projects that are conducted in the area.
She stated that locals have a right to channel their suggestions and views on how they want development to be done, further noting that she is keen to ensure that locals get access to basic services like provision of clean water and proper healthcare.
The MP affirmed that she will work with leaders who have peoples’ interests at heart, adding that leaders perpetuating hate and divisive politics are not welcome in Ruiru.
