Chimera was addressing residents at gitambaya slums in Ruiru, Kiambu County on Saturday, following an incident where boda boda operators torched a murder suspect and injured a police officer who tried to rescue the suspect.

He told residents to desist from killing suspects and instead hand them over to police for appropriate action to be taken against them, adding that the murder suspect they killed had given security personnel leads that have led to the arrest of other suspected criminals.

“There is no law that allows one to be a law unto themselves, how can you force a suspect to drink petrol, pour it on his body and burn him to death?” asked Chimera saying its inhuman and not equal to the mistakes the suspect is believed to have done.

The officer also issued a stern warning to boda boda operators who torched the suspect and injured the police officer saying that those who were involved have been identified and will be arrested and taken to court to face the full force of the law.
